Today Konami revealed its plans for PES in the future. After their first announcement stating that PES 21 would not be more than a squad update with no new features, its audience was very surprised (and not in a good way). In an update article on their website, Konami states: “We are excited to announce that we are hard at work on a next-generation football title that aims to truly embody our core concept of “The Pitch is Ours”. This means that Konami is re-writing the game so it can be used on the Unreal Engine. Stating on their website : “However, the sheer scale of everything we are aiming to achieve for our next-gen debut has made it necessary to pare back our efforts in other areas of development. As a result, we have made the decision to launch this year’s PES as a streamlined offering in the form of a “season update”.
With this news, we know that the next gen version of PES 21 wil launch later in 2021 after some excessive testing. This seems like a very long wait, but it seems to revamp soccer games in a promising way. Konami will undoubtedly know that FIFA gets a lot of criticism for resselling the same game for the last 4 years. Maybe this way, the soccer game industry will finally get some motion. A change its audience has been anticipating on for the last few years.
